Wouldn't it be nice...

…to think spring was on the way? Lambs racing around the fields, yellow daffodils nodding their heads in the sunshine, and um, warm weather. No sign of it in Lancashire as yet. At least this damp, grey, windy, chilly weather is conducive to work. There's certainly no temptation to leave the desk and sit in the garden with a glass of something tasty.

Wot? No edits?

I sent the second lot of my edits for Deadly Shadows to my editor on Saturday. Woohoo. Great to know they're done and dusted. The file has now gone to the copy editor who will go through it line by line, word by and word, and find no errors (hopefully).

Today, I'm working on the info I need to turn in for the cover designer. This involves giving those concerned the essence of the book - the mood, the setting, any visual hooks, etc.

Ah, sunlight

I've escaped from the edit cave. Woo-hoo!

The deadline for getting the revised manuscript back to my editor was today and I emailed it yesterday. The story, I think, is greatly improved so I just hope my editor agrees. It's about 6,000 words longer too.

Those were the development edits when my editor suggests I need more emotion here or more/less misdirection there. Basically, it's anything that will make the story stronger, tighter and more gripping. …
