This Writer's Life...

Happy Easter

I'm emerging from the edit cave to wish you all a happy Easter. Wouldn't it be nice to have some lovely spring weather? Alas. I've trudged through snow and ice again today and forecasters tell us to expect this cold snap to last another three weeks. Hope it's better where you are!

Yes, I've been working on edits all this time. I've almost finished them. I think I can see light at the end of the tunnel. …

Into the cave

I have edits, lots of edits, so I'm disappearing into the edit cave. I may be some time…

If you see me on Twitter or Facebook, give me a good kick and send me back to the cave.

I thought I'd take the day off. Maybe celebrate with a cupcake and a glass of something good. …

World Book Day

Yesterday was World Book Day and I forgot all about it until late in the day. Probably because I was too busy, um, getting a book ready to send to my editor…

Did you do anything for this special day? Lots of events were held across the UK I gather. Teachers dressed up as literary characters, books were given away, authors read from their work - and the day passed me by.

I was busy on my own book though and I read someone else's book for an hour or so. …

The horror of the synopsis

I couldn't believe it when I looked at my phone this morning and realised it was March 1st. I mean, really. What happened to January and February? Where did they go?

Was my first thought connected to St David's Day? No. My first thought was "Oh, my sweet *?!!!* - deadline month."

Deadly Shadows has to be on my editor's desk by the end of this month. Yikes. It's written, it's reasonably polished but - give me strength - I have the dreaded synopsis to write. …
