Where does the time go?

I'm still here. Still slogging on with Fatal Vengeance (coming to a bookstore near you just as soon as I can finish it). The days are passing me by in a blur though. But the weather - oh, wow, the weather. It's been glorious for the most part in Lancashire. We had one humdinger of a thunderstorm, and a couple of days when it's been dark and humid all day, but, other than that, it's been hot and sunny. This is little short of a miracle for Lancashire.

So what's been happening? Oh, yes, someone had a baby.

I have to confess that I don't usually get too excited about royal babies - or any babies if I'm honest - but I was extremely pleased that the third in line to the thrown was born on what would have been my dad's 88th birthday. Needless to say, I was even more chuffed that they named him George after my dad. How cool is that? I have to say that my dad hated the name and the only time I heard anyone call him George was when he was in hospital shortly before he died. King Rowland doesn't have the same regal feel to it though, does it? Regardless, my dad would have been as pleased as can be.

I also have to confess that I've been obsessing over Amazon sales rankings. I know I shouldn't, and I vow not to look, but still it sucks me in. The good news is that Into the Shadows is still on Amazon's Kindle to 100 bestsellers list. Yay!

Apart from that, I've been working. And watching a bit of TV. Did you all watch Luther? I'm an addict, I love it, but I thought the final episode got a little silly. I've also been glued to The Returned which, on the surface, isn't my sort of thing at all. I was hooked though.

What else have I been doing? Oh, yes. As I have two hairy dogs and a cat, I seem to spend half my life with a vacuum cleaner in my hand. Really, it gets silly. I got the dratted machine out three times on Tuesday (we have a log burning stove and logs, and a naughty young dog who sneaks off and decides it would be good fun to steal a log and chew it on the rug). So I'm looking at getting one of these...

Do you own one of these things? Are they worthwhile or are they simply another gadget that I won't use? I love the idea of having my own personal robot cleaning up while I'm doing something more fun - like sitting watching it.

Tomorrow, I get to go to Turf Moor for the first time in months. I'll be watching Burnley FC take on Sparta Rotterdam in a pre-season friendly and I can't wait. I'm even more excited that the football season proper starts on the 3rd August. Life will be back to normal.

What about you? What will you be doing this weekend? And what about these robot vacuum cleaner thingies? Any thoughts?
