Welcome to Autumn

I was feeling quite smug by the end of Saturday because my accounts were all done and dusted. It wasn't quite the horror show I'd been expecting because I'd been better than I thought at entering things regularly. There were't too many receipts or statements lurking. Everything is now ready for me to hand over to the accountant. Yay!

To celebrate, I left the desk yesterday. We went into Skipton - "gateway to the Yorkshire Dales". It's a lovely town, especially when the sun's shining, and we enjoyed a narrow boat trip on the Leeds to Liverpool Canal. We also enjoyed lunch by the canal before wandering the town and window shopping. A lovely day!

So yes, the sun shone yesterday. Today, however, we woke to strong winds and rain lashing against the window. It feels as if summer has well and truly waved goodbye and autumn has arrived in style. Not that I'm complaining (too much). I actually like autumn and winter. In the summer evenings, I feel as if I should be doing something useful. When it's cold and dark outside, I don't feel so guilty if I curl up in front of a blazing log fire with a good book. And I love snow. I know it's a nuisance if you're trying to get anywhere, and I know I won't like it so much when I've fallen over and broken a bone, but I'm like a child when the snow comes. I love it. My perfect day is when the sky is blue, the sun is shining and there are six inches of snow on the ground. What about you? Do you have a favourite season?
