Back at the desk...

Where have you been, I hear you cry. Well, if I hadn't managed to completely mess up this blog, you would have known I was off on a week's holiday to North Yorkshire. For some reason - and I have no idea what that reason is - my blog hasn't posted properly and I've also managed to mess up my comments notifications. I'll work on that!

So yes, I've been on holiday. As Nick kept reminding me before we set off, the Father Ted episode when they take a holiday is called Hell. You'd be forgiven for thinking that a week in a log cabin in a forest in the middle of North Yorkshire with two dogs would have a similar outcome. But no. It was wonderful. Of course, we managed to book the best weather of the year - unbelievable - and that always helps. We stayed here

and were surrounded by silence - except for birds twittering in the trees. Bliss.

We didn't do a lot, which was the whole idea, but we did visit the lovely towns of Pickering and Whitby, as well as my favourite, Robin Hood's Bay.

Needless to say, I now have dozens of emails to answer, not to mention a book to write, but I'm feeling refreshed and raring to go, right? Um, right.

First though, I'll try and sort out this blog…

So what have you been up to? Anything exciting? I'm sure those of you in the UK have been making the most of the gorgeous weather. Long may it continue. We're owed a good summer.
